Infinity Art Unit meets The New X Art Ensemble, featuring the Amazing Tess Toster Tones. The Midwest’s masters of improvisation combine musical forces and make jazz/noise, hear! Searing, hypnagogic instrumentals, sounding like a Bitches Brew with a snifter of Henry Cow juice.
Artist-musician Billy X. Curmano has hosted open house jams since 1968, out of which formed The New X Art Ensemble as a regular concert and recording band. Billy and New X have released CDs and cassettes Culture Run Amok, Trios and Duets, and their best-seller, New X Xmas, a deconstruction of holiday classics and clichés. The group’s live events included a Concert for Cows, The Death Valley Desert Classic, and shows in New Orleans, Los Angeles and Minneapolis’ Icebox Gallery.
Peter and David Stenshoel joined Stuart Mathews in The Infinity Art Unit in 1974. On Infinite X-Ings, all-new recordings prove they’ve kept up their chops since the halcyon days when The Infinity Art Unit played original compositions “Abnormal Psychology Picnic” and “New Frozen Television Matrix” in concerts on The Nicollet Mall and at the Southdale Shopping Center.
Infinite X-Ings brings The Infinity Art Unit together with The New X Art Ensemble for the first time, in live, unedited recordings from The Witoka Contemporary, The MacPhail Center For Music, and Artworks USA.
